May 2024 Awards

Our 2024 scholarship auditions were held in May 2024 at UMSL. We had an absolutely PHENOMENAL audition day! We were blown away by the poise, professionalism, and musicianship of these students!

We are so pleased to award the Judy Goldman Award for Musical Excellence to Sophia Heaton, who is graduating from high school as a homeschooler and is headed to the University of Michigan School of Music. Sophia is a violinist, and she performed a Bach concerto and one of the Piazzolla Tango Etudes. Sophia has been a student of Angie Smart. She wowed us!

We are delighted to award the Audrey Hammann Award for Musical Excellence to Lily Cooper, percussion. Despite having a less-than-optimal marimba on which to perform Saturday, Lily gave a marvelous performance of Over the Rainbow and a Bach Prelude. She is a student of Alan Stewart, is a 2024 high school graduate, and is headed to the Boston Conservatory.

We are so happy to award the Lily Kaufman Award for Musical Excellence to Jamie Decker, piano. Jamie performed the Gigue from the Bach Parita and a Scriabin Sonata. His focus and intensity were just amazing. He is a 2024 high school graduate, a student of Amanda Kirkpatrick, and is planning to attend Ithaca College in the fall.

We are glad to award the Award for Musical Excellence to Sam Caudell, clarinet. Sam played a transcription of a Bach prelude and the Weber Concertino, and was so very polished and expressive. Sam is a recent high school graduate who has studied with Diana Haskell, he plans to attend the UMKC Conservatory next fall, where he will study with Jane Carl.

Thanks to all our students, teachers, donors, and club members for making this possible.
